(She/Her - Why pronouns matter)
Amy’s Bio:
Fear steals so much from us: our ability to breathe deeply, explore with curiosity, and connect to ourselves and others. When fear starts to take over our thoughts and choices, we often don’t quite feel like ourselves anymore. You might notice that you start to feel overwhelmed by the weight of intrusive thoughts, stress, or money, and you're not sure what to do. This is where I come in.I'm here to support you in gaining tools to let your values lead the life you want to live and reconnect to yourself.
Society often wants to shame us over intrusive thoughts about taboo subjects. I’m here to ground you and reassure you that, while your thoughts cause worry, they do not define you or your worth as a person. While other therapists or people in your life might shy away from these difficult topics, I will sit with you and allow you a space to fully express your deep worries and concerns. I often provide insight and education for my clients regarding how our obsessions and compulsions can be influenced by fear and this loss of control sometimes leaves us feeling helpless. Our work together will focus on helping you lean into the discomfort instead of avoidance so you can leave our sessions feeling like you moved through it with strength and resilience.
Because so much of what weighs on us can feel heavy, I welcome humor in our sessions as a way to disrupt fear & overcome the uncertainty that often grapples with our energy. I also value leaning into our strengths and understanding how the systems we live in impact our daily lives. I utilize an eclectic mix of trauma-informed approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Exposure Response and Prevention therapy, Internal Family Systems, and Somatic Experiencing.
I specialize in working with 18+ individuals in the LGBTQ community to process identity, relationships, and past traumas in addition to supporting individuals in regaining control of their lives from OCD, phobias, anxiety, depression, and financial worries.
Outside of sessions you will find me riding my bike, exploring nature, or snuggling my cat.
